Ladies and Gentlemen,
On behalf of the leaders and people of Binh Thuan province, I would like to thank Mr. Ramu Damodaran – Editor-in-Chief of the United Nations Chronicle and Chief of the United Nations Academic Impact for organizing the United Nations Roundtable 2045 Conference. The Roundtable is a special event that has great significance in promoting the search for ideas, models and solutions that shape the world with the motto: Instead of forecasting, let’s set the future together. Attending today’s Roundtable, it is my great honor to participate and contribute ideas for a distinguished city model of the world, in which, Phan Thiet City – Binh Thuan Province will become the leading MICE tourism city of MICE in the future.

In 2018, Vietnam was voted “Asia’s Top Destination” for the first time at the World Travel Awards. Vietnam attracts tourists with more than 3,000 km of romantic coastline, diverse landscapes, dynamic cities with cultural and historical values. Tourism is oriented into a spearhead economic sector. In the long-term to 2030, Vietnam aspires to become a leading tourist destination in the region and has an ambition to double the number of visitors compared to 2020.
Binh Thuan is a key locality in the national tourism development planning, in which, Phan Thiet city is identified as the center. Binh Thuan is about 200km from Ho Chi Minh City to the East. The province is endowed with 192 km of white sand coastline, unique and rare sand dunes in the world, the weather is stable all year round, less affected by storms than other provinces. The whole province has a long history – culture, has 35 ethnic groups live together, over 300 monuments and more than 450 festivals; Cham ethnic cultural heritages in Binh Thuan are an attractive human resource, with unique local cultural identities, an important factor that interests and attracts many tourists to come to explore and show respect.
Phan Thiet – Binh Thuan has many historical – cultural relics, artistic architecture and famous landscape spots; The highlight is Duc Thanh School – Phan Thiet, Van Thuy Tu Palace, Champa Sah Inu Tower, Phan Thiet Water Tower, Duc Thang Village Communal House, Ong Pagoda (Quan De Temple), Fairy Stream, Sandy Hills, …, Duc Thanh School is a famous monument ranked nationally in 1986, This school was built in 1907. Ho Chi Minh President had taught in this Province from September 1910 to February 1911.
Phan Thiet city is internationally known as a paradise resort with the full potential for tourism development. The Prime Minister of Vietnam has approved the Master plan for development of Mui Ne National Tourist Area, Binh Thuan Province up to 2025, with a vision to 2040. Accordingly, Mui Ne and surrounding areas have been selected to become the priority area for tourism development in Vietnam, creating a strong rebound and attracting investment to help Binh Thuan become an attractive tourism destination. This would contribute to help Binh Thuan to compete with Pattaya, Phuket of Thailand. The leaders of Binh Thuan province are aspired to set a target to 2030 for Phan Thiet to become a precious gem, a desirable tourism and resort destination for the purposes: Sea tourism and entertainment, adventure tourism and sports, cultural and spiritual tourism, health care and resort, and especially MICE tourism.
Over the past time, Binh Thuan province has made significant changes in its vision, implementing synchronous planning for infrastructure such as the new expressways are under construction, Phan Thiet airport is completing investment procedures and is expected to start construction in April, 2021. By 2025, transport infrastructure connecting with Phan Thiet city will be completed. Besides, the province receives supporting from strategic investors; for example, cooperating with McKinsey consulting unit to set up a tourism development orientation project for the province. NovaWorld Phan Thiet project’s categories promise to bring many outstanding benefits to the community and in the near future, including the coming contest “Vietnamese aspirations: Bringing Phan Thiet to become the number 1 MICE tourism destination in the region and the world by 2030”.
With the advantage of having a long coastline and easy access to the expressway, Phan Thiet city has the advantage of providing facilities for international conference events; effective connection, providing support packages for business travelers who want to extend their stay to participate in entertainment activities. Along with the nucleus, NovaWorld Phan Thiet connects with Michael Dukakis Institute, famous professors at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology together to build NovaWorld Phan Thiet into a virtual technology city and become a destination of startups about AI around the world – is an advanced model city of human civilization.
On this occasion, I would also like to thank Mr. Ramu Damodaran, Editor-in-Chief of the UN Chronicle; looking forward to welcoming you and the United Nations members to visit Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan, Vietnam as soon as possible.
